Hello, my name is St. Dominic Savio. I was born on April 2, 1842 in Riva, Italy to a peasant family. My father was a blacksmith and my mother was a seamstress. I became a Saint by praying when the church was closed, saying grace at every meal, and keeping faith in god and believing in him. I encouraged others to pray and helped the sick and homeless children. When I was 7 years old, I received my first communion; that was the greatest day of my life.  Later, I wrote down four rules for myself to follow. First, I would go to confession and to communion often. Second, I would  keep holy the feast day. Third, Jesus and Mary would be my best friends, and finally, I would rather die than commit sin. Then, I was introduced to Father Bosco. I told Farther Bosco that I wanted to be a priest. Father Bosco taught me what holiness truly was. He also taught me that God puts us where he wants us to be in life, and we are responsible for our actions. When I was 12 years old, I learned what it meant to be a Saint. One of my teachers told me that God desires us to become a Saint and that there is a great reward in Heaven for those who live holy lives. I said, “I can’t do big things, but I want everything to be for the glory of God.” I created a club in the church to help out Farther Bosco. In the meantime, my health began to fail from a disease called  Tuberculosis. My doctor recommended that I go home, but I knew I was going to die. Before I departed, my final words were, “Goodbye dad goodbye oh what wonderful things I see.” I died on March 9, 1857 and I was declared Venerable by Pope Pius the 11th I was benefited by Pope Pius the 12th and was declared  a saint in 1954. My feast day is on March 9, and I’m a patron of  Young Boys.
